Each new sound is a new lesson.
Read the sounds, then the words underneath. Practice writing the words neatly in a list then write one or two short sentences (adults can help with ideas).
For example: 'oo' - "The zoo is fun." "The spoon is in the food."
Spend 2 lessons (2 days) focusing on each sound to that it becomes fluent and memorised.

We helped make a delicious apple crumble for Harvest!
We have been dissecting a pumpkin! We've set up an investigation to see what will happen over time if we leave a piece of pumpkin outside, inside and in the fridge. We had some very enthusiastic discussions!
We have been busy painting fruits and vegetables, learning about The Harvest and role-playing in the outdoor area. We also had some of the older boys and girls come into our garden to buddy up and play with the children!
This week in Reception we have been very busy storytelling some of our favourite traditional tales. We have also been exploring the story 'Elmer' and creating our own patchwork Elmers. We've continued learning our initial sounds in phonics and have been developing our matching and sorting skills during maths. We now have a Doctor's Surgery role-play area in class which we have had fun role-playing in!
We've had a super fun week in Reception! Our children learned to read and write their first sounds during their phonics lessons and had lots of fun role-playing and acting out our favourite stories. We even made delicious jam sandwiches for a Teddy Bear's Picnic!
We have had a very busy week in Reception this week! The children have settled into their new class very well and have enjoyed participating in a range of different activities!
